“Caselaw updates when you need them - now!”

Monthly Online Training

Meeting the Needs of Pennsylvania's Law Enforcement.

Don't fall victim to failure to train problems, Chris Boyle's Law Enforcement Cadre provides officers with the training and knowledge they need to face the dynamic and fluid world they operate in.

We provide high-quality, up-to-date, and Pennsylvania-specific training to the Commonwealth's Law Enforcement Professionals in the form of:

  • Monthly Legal Updates; CLEE APPROVED BY MPOETC FOR 2023!!!

  • On Demand Training

Don't waste your officer's valuable time with training that "may not apply to Pennsylvania." Officers won't hear, "this is how we do it in our state," because all the training provided is actionable here, where it matters.

Monthly Legal Updates CLEE APPROVED BY MPOETC FOR 2023!!!

The Need: Mandatory in-service training faces its greatest challenge in providing up-to-date material for the entire state. Lesson plans, by necessity, are made up a year in advance, which can mean critical information may not be taught until 18 months later. While Departments will do their best to keep up with changes, they do not always have the resources to devote to timely legal updates and training.

The Cadre's Solution: Each month, officers receive legal update training on current case laws, legal updates, and court rulings that impact how they operate on the street. The priority is making sure officers are aware of legal changes which directly effective them. The Cadre is the backup they need when they need it.

I am happy to say that ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN Police Departments now subscribe to my monthly Legal Updates.  I have provided a list of these Departments, below.  Each month, these Departments receive four, fifteen-minute videos.  Every month I provide the most current case law,but I also add training on a specific topic in addition to the cases from that month.  These are “check-the-box” topics (duty to intervene, social media, etc.) that you will want to document for defense of your officers and Departments in the event of civil rights litigation.  I also provide a ten question test for your use each month, so you can further track retention of the material. These subscription updates can easily either be embedded directly into PowerDMS or PlanIt, or web-accessed online at my LMS (Learning Management System) on Teachable.

The case law I bring to you is drawn from Pennsylvania (state law cases) the Third Circuit (federal cases) and United States Supreme Court. I read every case, every day, in these jurisdictions that involve law enforcement.  Each of the Legal Updates will cover only the most recent cases, from the prior month, so your officers will be getting up-to-the-minute material every month, rather than year or two old cases in mandatory training.  The cost for twelve hours of training for every officer in your Department is $99/officer.

The videos are lively, but not over-the-top.  Our shared goal is for your officers to get timely and relevant information they can use.  The twelve video modules will do exactly that, with up to the minute Legal Updates and other topics that will both educate your officers, and provide you and your municipality protection from a failure to train, Monell claim. While I will keep the videos humorous, to keep your troops coming back, I make certain that there will be nothing I wouldn’t want to testify to in front of a jury in federal court in my capacity as an expert.

On-Demand Training

The Need: Sometimes, training is required to address a specific needs or improvement areas within the Department. Unfortunately, accessing high-quality training can be difficult for many reasons; budgets, scheduling, staffing, and so on. Often times this means ignoring the problem, or trying to patch the solution.

The Cadre's Solution: The Cadre's on-demand training modules have been developed to address the specific needs of officers on a one-off basis. Officers will be able to receive the training they need, at the time that is convenient for them; because not everyone is available next Wednesday at noon.

It is more important than ever for officers to be current in their knowledge of case law and police trends. Our officers and citizens cannot afford for police to be updated on a limited basis. For officers to do their job safely, effectively and within the boundaries set forth by legislature and the judicial system, they need to have consistent and accurate training that is both timely and relevant. Chris Boyle provides that training and more!
— Deputy Chief Chris Porter, Abington Township Police Department
I am so glad the Chief came to me with this and asked me to look into it. You’ve done an incredible job with relevant, updated case law. I’m in my 31st year, don’t laugh,... Knowledge, current, is priceless. Soooo many of the things you touched on in the previous couple of months I have put out to my guys ... Keep up the good work, not that I want you to raise the rates, but I think this was a no brainer when it comes to value for service.
